AU1 Language Angels Topic: Core Vocabulary

Unit 1,3,4,5,6 and I’m learning French (lesson 1).

 

Objectives to be covered:

 

  • I can recognise colours in French.
  • I can recognise some classroom commands in French.
  • I can recognise the days of the week in French.
  • I can recognise the months of the year in French.
  • I can recognise some numbers from 1-100 in French.
  • I can say my name and how I feel in French.

 

AU2 Language Angels Topic: I’m learning French (lesson 2-6) and Core Vocabulary Unit 2 (Christmas).

 

  •  I can find France on a map of the world.
  •  I can name the capital of France and three other well known French cities.
  •  I can name at least two other countries where they speak French in the world.
  • I can recognise some French vocabulary about Christmas.

SP1 Language Angels Topic: Animals.

 

Objectives to be covered:

 

  •  I can repeat all the numbers 1-10 in French, backwards too.
  •  I can tell you what these numbers mean in English when they are out of sequence.
  •  I can say and match all the animals to their appropriate picture and spell more than

three unaided in French.

 

SP2 Language Angels Topic: Musical Instruments.

 

  • I can recognise all ten instruments when I hear them and know what that instrument is in English.
  • I can name five or more instruments in French with the correct gender.
  • I am able to match all the French spellings to their appropriate picture.
  • I can say I play five or more instruments of my choice, using the verb jouer correctly in French.

SU1 Language Angels Topic: Little Red Riding Hood.

 

Objectives to be covered:

 

  • I can listen and follow the entire story of Little Red Riding Hood in French and understand most of what I hear.
  • I can remember all of the words for the picture cards in French and remember where they appear in the story.
  • I can remember and spell all of the parts of the body covered in class.

 

SU2 Language Angels Topic: Ancient Britain.

 

  • I can tell you and use correctly the French for all three of; “I am” (Je suis), “I have” (J’ai) and “I live” (J’habite).
  • I can tell you the words for all six key periods of ancient Britain in French from memory and spell the stone age, iron age and bronze age.
  • I can say I am a man or woman from the stone age, bronze age and iron age and attempt the spellings.
  • I can attempt to say in French that I have invented two of the hunting tools and attempt these spellings.
  • I can attempt to say where I live as a man or woman from the stone age, bronze age and iron age.

AU2 Language Angels Topic: Presenting Myself.

 

  • I can repeat all my personal details in French, and ask for the same information back.
  • I can say numbers 1-20 clearly in French and I can now spell some of these numbers.
  • I can say whether I am French or English and how the pronunciation changes if I am a girl or boy.

SP1 Language Angels Topic: The Classroom.

 

  • I can remember, repeat and spell the vocabulary covered in lessons for classroom objects.
  • I can tell you what I have and do not have in my pencil case.

I can understand and follow simple classroom commands in French.

 

SP2 Language Angels Topic: At the Café.

Objectives to be covered:

 

  • I can remember, repeat and spell the foods and drinks covered in the lessons to enable me to place an order. I can change the language to suit what I want to say.
  • I can order a French breakfast, a range of snacks and read from a French menu without any assistance. I can also order for my friend.
  • I can ask for the bill in French.

SU1 Language Angels Topic: Goldilocks.

 

  • I can use picture cards to sequence the story correctly.
  • I can repeat from memory all of the words that represent all of the pictures.
  • I can sequence the story using phrase cards by reading the cards and then putting them into the right order.
  • I can create my own storyboard in French.

 

SU2 Language Angels Topic: The Tudors.

Objectives to be covered:

 

  • I can listen and follow the entire story of the Tudor

history in French.

  • I can remember and spell at least three of the adjectives in French used for Henry VIII’s wives.

AU2 Language Angels Topic: What is the Date?

 

  • I can repeat all the months in French from memory with pronunciation and spell some of them correctly.
  • I can ask the date in French and say the date in French.
  • I can ask when somebody has their birthday in French and tell them when I have my birthday.

SP1 Language Angels Topic: The Weather.

Objectives to be covered:

 

  • I can repeat all the weather vocabulary presented to me in class from memory with accurate pronunciation and spell some of these phrases.
  • I can ask what the weather is in French and reply to this question.
  • I can read a simple French weather map.

 

SP2 Language Angels Topic: Habitats.

 

  • I can name five essential elements that animals and plants need to survive in their habitats.
  • I can tell you in French five types of habitats.
  • I can tell you in French which animals and which plants live and grow in each habitat.

SU1 Language Angels Topic: At School.

Objectives to be covered:

 

  • I can repeat all the vocabulary presented to me in class from memory for school subjects with accurate pronunciation. I can spell most, if not all of these words, correctly. I can also use the correct article.
  • I can say which subjects I like and dislike at school.
  • I can tell you what time I have subjects at school.
  • I can tell you what time I go to school and at what time my friend goes to school.

 

SU2 Language Angels Topic: The Planets.

  • I can now name all the planets in French and place them on a solar system map.

  • I can say what the partitive articles are in French and when, where and how to use them correctly.
  • I can say what a NOUN is, how to determine a NOUN’s gender (masculine or feminine) and plurality

(singular or plural) in French.

  • I can say what adjectival agreement is and when, where and how to use it correctly.
  • I can say what possessive adjectives are in French and when, where and how to use them correctly.

 

AU2 Language Angels Topic: Clothes.

 

  • I can repeat all the clothes vocabulary presented to me in class from memory with accurate pronunciation and spell most of these words.
  • I can tell you if the article/determiner is un, une or des.
  • I can say what I am wearing, and possibly what my friend is wearing as I am now more familiar with the verb PORTER.
  • I can tell you what I wear and possibly what my friend wears in different weather/situations.
  • I can describe clothing by colour and understand the concept of adjectival agreement.
  • I am confident using the possessive adjectives MON, MA and MES.

SP1 Language Angels Topic: The Weekend.

Objectives to be covered:

 

  • I can ask what the time is in French and also tell the time accurately, including using quarter past,

half past and quarter to.

  • I have learnt a range of phrases from memory in French to talk about the activities that I do at the weekend.
  • I am able to highlight the verb in these sentences.
  • I can give you an account from memory of what I do at the weekend and at what time, now integrating conjunctions into my work.

 

SP2 Language Angels Topic: Healthy Lifestyles.

Objectives to be covered:

 

  • I can name and recognise ten foods and drinks that are considered good for a healthy diet.
  • I name another ten foods and drinks that are considered bad for a healthy diet if eaten in excess.
  • I can tell you a few things that I do and do not do during the week in terms of exercise.
  • I can give you a general account of what I do to lead a healthy life style unaided from memory.
  • I can follow a simple French recipe and research new words.

SU1 Language Angels Topic: World War 2

 

  • I can order a group of unknown words and decode most of the meaning in a piece of French text.
  • I can name most of the countries and languages involved in WW2 and label a map in French.
  • I can give you an account of what city life was like compared to country life during the war.

I am able to write a simple letter in French.

 

SU2 Language Angels Topic: The Olympics.

  • I can tell you key facts from the history of the Olympics and from the modern games in French.
  • I can remember all of the nouns for the ten sports, including their correct spelling and their correct gender in French.
  • I can conjugate the verb FAIRE in full. I can use this to say that I or somebody else plays a sport in French.
  • I can use de la, de l’ and du correctly when saying I play a sport. I also know how to use the negative correctly.
