Science at Middlemarch School
Our Science curriculum aims to create independent learners who are curious about the world around them; individuals who are confident enough to ask questions and search for answers. To develop our children’s Cultural Capital in Science, we aim to introduce them to best that has been thought and said, to help them to both understand ‘how Science works’ and appreciate the Courageous Advocacy, creativity and achievement in Scientific progress from diverse pioneers.
Science is taught weekly in discreet lesson which meet the requirements of the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum. During Key Stage 2 learners revisit certain topics in order to embed and deepen understanding. The skill to work scientifically is developed across all of the topics. Lessons are planned with support for the less-confident learners. Visitors and STEM Week activities further enhance the learning experience for all of our children.
